Meet Buck

Buck’s passion for cooking came when he was just five years old, when he used to stand alongside his Uncle Steve learning how to make beer batter in the kitchen of what is still known today as Henry’s Fine Edibles, owned at the time by his Uncle Steve and Aunt Deb. As it runs in the family, and with parents and grandparents who were seasoned in the art of true southern comfort food, one could say that culinary talent is just in his blood.

By the time he was he was 12, he was making full course meals for his mom, who patiently acted as his taste tester and lovingly offered her family secrets and tricks of the trade. When with his father, Buck learned the art of “waste not, want not” as his dad had a knack for creating several unique meals from limited ingredients.

All of these heirloom ideas passed down through the years, along with his self-taught innovative techniques and passion for authenticity has molded Buck into the creative culinary maverick he is today.

Buck’s main motivation is putting a smile on the face of those who try his food. As a man of few words, he speaks through his talents, as he brings joy to his art and shows love to his fellow human by comforting them with dishes that would please even the pickiest of palettes.

At the end of the day, Buck’s desire is to serve others with compassion, offering a tasty comforting meal with heart and soul.

Meet Jeremy

Jeremy comes from the marketing and growth side of the business world. As an entrepreneur, Jeremy has started and grown multiple businesses. The idea of creating and introducing people to better alternatives than the traditional American status quo has been an anchor in his journey.

For nearly his entire life Jeremy has dealt with being morbidly obese. At one point, his weight ballooned to 400 pounds. After getting fed up and very frustrated with the way he was living his life, he decided to take control. After seeking help with a local medical weight loss clinic and committing to the program, Jeremy began his 2 year weight loss journey.

Throughout the next 2 years, Jeremy researched food, diets and the psychological side of losing weight. He buried himself in researching cooking and learning nutrition. He eventually developed and suffered some severe gastro issues in the second year of his journey due of the extreme weight loss. Plants seemed to be the only thing that his body could easily process and handle.

Jeremy decided to give vegetarianism a try. For two weeks he would commit to plants only with the exception of milk and egg. Within this time, he began doing what he always does… Researching vegetarianism and veganism to death! This research led him down the path of educating himself on animal cruelty and environmental impacts of consuming meat.

Jeremy loves life, he loves people, he loves helping people, but mostly… he loves all the little creatures of the earth. He’s a dog lover and Kevin (Jeremy’s bulldog) goes with him everywhere he goes. I’m sure you will be seeing a lot of Kevin if you follow along with Junk Food. It’s our responsibility as human beings to take care of our home. It’s our responsibility to take care of all the life that God blessed us with.

Our Vision

Jeremy and Buck’s vision of Junk Food is giving people that live in Southwest Georgia a healthy option… FINALLY. Southwest Georgia is a fast food Mecca and we fully understand why. We LOVE fast food as well aside from the fact that we all collectively know we shouldn’t be eating that stuff! So we asked ourselves the following questions:

- Why isn’t their healthy food that is good for you but still tastes and looks great without the hassle?

- Why isn’t there options for people to experience fast food on a much higher standard?

- Why does any animal need to be hurt in the process to make this a reality for all to enjoy?

This is where Junk Food comes to life. We started to grow a ton of vegetables in our custom built hydroponic garden, we build out a test kitchen, we started fermenting a ton of items to learn the science of all things vegetables. We started playing around with formulating our own plant based options from scratch. Testing and tasting with friends and family members to get honest feedback from hardcore meat eaters.

We believe that plants are the future of food. We believe that the world is changing. We believe that we can help make the world a better place. We believe that you will love Junk Food! See you soon!
